Windows Vista released

Yesterday Windows Vista was released, but I have not seen it in action yet, except a few seconds on television. I’ve read a few reviews online. Tho i’ve seen some kids saying that the new user interface was ‘handy’ and ’simple’, I’m really not convinced. My biggest problem with Vista is that I already payed for XP when I bought my laptop, it was bundled with it, no consumer choice here obviously. My next issue is that there is no real improvement over XP. I really can’t think up one good enough reason to go out and buy it. Get a Mac. Install Ubuntu.

As a matter of fact, now that fucking ATI *finally* released a driver for Linux with OpenGL 2.0 support, my main, origional, reason to run XP on this laptop falls away. I’ve always told myself that because 90% of the computers run windows, I should be at least supporting it as a development platform. That reason still stands. Another reason to keep up with windows is ofcourse games. More specifically: WoW. I’ve been told WoW runs under Wine. Supporting windows as a platform could be done under vmware for Linux. Mathematica is available under Linux. So, no real reason not to switch to Linux. Somewhere next week I’ll start the conversion
